App navigation: Risk → Asset

The Asset module maintains an inventory of all organizational assets that need to be protected – systems, applications, data stores, hardware, and other resources. Assets are the foundation of the ATVEC risk methodology used in the Risk Register.

Screen Layout #

Navigate to Risk → Asset. The Asset Inventory screen shows an Asset Summary panel (Total Assets, By Status – Not Ready, Active, Decommissioned – and Assignment Summary) alongside an inventory grid with columns: AssetId, Status, Assigned To, Assigned On, Returned On, Purchased On, Purchase Price.

Creating an Asset #

  1. Select + on the toolbar. The Asset Action dialog offers five options:
    • Create Manually – fill in asset details manually.
    • Import from File – bulk import using a file upload.
    • Import from Azure – pull assets from your Azure environment.
    • Import from AWS – pull assets from your AWS environment.
    • Import from GCP – pull assets from your Google Cloud environment.
  2. For manual creation, enter:
    • Asset Name and Asset Type (e.g., Server, Application, Database, Document).
    • Status – Not Ready, Active, or Decommissioned.
    • Owner and assignment details.
    • Purchase details (optional): Purchased On, Purchase Price.
  3. Save the asset record.

Linking Assets to Risks #

Once created, assets can be linked to Risk Register entries via the ATVEC Mapping step in the Create Risk wizard (Risk → Risk Register → + → Step 2). This provides traceability from the formal risk back to the specific asset at risk.
